PORTMARNOCK FENCE REMOVED

Following legal action by Fingal County Council, a fence which enclosed and, traditionally used as public open space in Portmarnock has been removed

A long running dispute with a local landowner over the erection of a fence at the junction of Carrickhill Road and strand Road in Portmarnock came to a conclusion when the Circuit Court granted an order to the council to remove the fence.

The fence has since been removed but a second row could now be brewing over the land which has recently seen planting that was not authorised by the council.

The council has advised the owner of the land that further legal action will be taken if planting encloses the land and prevents access over the lands.

Council officials gave a report on the matter to a meeting of the Malahide/Hoth area. Committe after Cllr Alan Farrell (FG) asked for an update on the planning status of the fencing.
